TESTIMONIALS
‘The six week course was really positive, a pleasant, friendly, group in a relaxed environment. The lessons were fun, varied and well prepared to suit the pupils abilities. Highly recommend them, Helen is a brilliant teacher.’ Jill Bosley, Newbury.
"I thoroughly enjoyed my beginners Ukulele lessons with Helen. I was surprised how quickly I was able to strum along and sing with the others. It was such a relaxed atmosphere I did not feel under any individual pressure. Helen organised and structured the lessons in clear and logical way so it was very easy to follow the materials at home to practice. I highly recommend these lessons to anyone interested in learning to play the Ukulele" Pauline, Thatcham
"Although I wasn’t a complete beginner, I found Helen’s course very useful. I particularly liked her emphasis on listening to the chord changes and the encouragement to explore using our ears to find the chords. The lessons were imaginative and well- structured and we learned how to be creative as well as learning strumming patterns and a variety of techniques, all conducted in a friendly supportive group". Lynette Harper, Jan 2019
I recently attended the beginners class. Although I had played a few years ago, the classes were a great refresher. I also learnt new techniques and found Helen to be a really good teacher. She was very encouraging and helpful to all participants and encouraged us to listen to what we were playing without always watching the music which was a great way to encourage confidence. She made the classes fun and right from the first evening we were playing and singing songs
"My beginners course was great fun and very well presented by Helen. A very good insight into playing the ukulele which instantly removed any doubts about playing this instrument. Our small groups worked well together, and the pace was set just right for an oldie like me. I certainly would recommend this course for first time beginners. Also the follow on group jamming sessions are fun. And Helen makes great coffee. Thanks Helen"
Peter Harries, Hungerford
"At the end of last year, I had the pleasure of enjoying a course of six beginners lessons at Helen's house in Inkpen. They were held in her light and airy music studio. There were five of us and we were a real mixed bunch some who had played a different instrument before and others like me, at the age of 55, who had never picked up one before. It is very enjoyable learning and playing with others and there is no need to be able to read music or indeed have any musical knowledge.
Helen provides you at each lesson with material to take home with songs and tips on how to play the chords and strumming coupled with her leading each song with her beautiful singing and playing is infectious. We are all now ready and excited as a group to join in next Thursday night and play along with the Newbury Town Stummers at the Bowlers Arms". Jacquetta Blunt, Jan 2019
"I very much enjoyed Helen's six week ukulele beginners course. I achieved so much more than I expected. Helen's lessons were well planned, well structured and best of all enjoyable and great fun, also tribute to our fun group. Beginners work book and song sheets provided by Helen. Good skills to remember were listening to what we were playing. I highly recommend these lessons, Helen is a brilliant teacher and very inspirational." June 2019 Mary Pinder, Hermitage
